The Los Angeles Section of ISA was one of 13 founding sections of the Instrument Society of America. During WWII, a group of engineers and technicians from the aerospace industry decided that a society dedicated to the M&C industry was desirable. According to the letter of invitation: "The large amount of scientific, technical, and industrial work involving instrumentation, now going on in California, makes it evident that there is a definite need for a Society of those interested in this field." ISA secretary Richard Rimbach recommended the group form as a seperate society until after the war at which time we would "...organize into a national Society".
The Objectives of ISA LA are to advance and reinforce the arts and sciences related to the theory, design, manufacture and use of automation in the various industries, sciences and technologies for the benefit of mankind.
